Ligna was formed in 2005. After some years working as a forester and trainer with experience in India and South Africa and in production forestry in the UK, Mike Greenland, the MD, decided the time was right to set up Ligna as specialist business to business consultancy, with a focus on sustainability and transparency in the timber and forest products industries. 
Since Ligna began we have worked with companies of all shapes, sizes and specialities in the industry, developing, implementing and auditing around forest management and chain of custody systems.
During this time we have also developed links with timber and systems professionals who have timber, paper and forest products experience in the UK, Indonesia, Malaysia, Spain, Portugal, the US, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Chile and West, South and East Africa.
In 2010 Jim Forde joined the business. With a keen interest in the industry sector and background in working with the Public Sector on corporate social responsibility, Jim has provided a dynamic input into Ligna, working constructively with clients and associates alike. His grasp and understanding of ISO systems is helping shape the future direction of the business.
As best practice and policy agendas have changed, Ligna has adapted and we are now developing new specialisms in Due Diligence, ISO9000, ISO 14000 and carbon management systems, providing increasing sophistication to our existing business clients and attracting new business along the way.
